You are very welcome to join us at any time.

Members have widely varying levels of geological knowledge, ranging from enthusiastic amateurs, to post-graduates and people who have worked using their geological background.  Although based in Huddersfield, members come from as far as Wakefield, Leeds and Oldham.  You will see from our programme we are interested in furthering our knowledge in all areas of geology.

Our talks are given at Greenhead College, Greenhead Road, Huddersfield, HD1 4ES in  Room M18, accessed by entering the main ‘old’ entrance.  M18 is on the first floor and there is a ramp and lift for those who find stairs difficult.  After the talk there is time to talk and discuss items of interest over refreshments  until 9pm.

You have a choice of paying an annual membership fee for the talk programme of £20 or £4 for each evening attended.

We hold field trips in a variety of locations both local and further afield.  Most are at the weekend with an occasional mid-week day/evening.  We charge £3.50 for a half day and £7.00 for a day paid in cash at the time of the visit.

There is usually one weekend away in the spring or early autumn.  Examples of past weekends have been Berwick, Lake District and North Lincolnshire.   Weekends away usually incur additional accommodation costs and meals, often self-organised to suit your budget.

If you would like to become a member please email  for further information or come along to one of our meetings.
